Technical Training Center for Orphans and Handicapped Children
Orphans or disabled, they are not a burden or a burden to society. With proper training, these people can also become self-reliant and contribute to national economic activities. In continuation of this, Department of Social Services established "Technical Training Center for Orphans and Handicapped Children" in the fiscal year 2005-2006. From 15 to 2013-2014 financial year in these centers. 25-year-old orphans and disabled children are getting employment and rehabilitation opportunities by receiving technical training in various timely trades. As a result, they are becoming self-reliant and able to contribute to national economic activities without becoming a burden and a burden to the society and family. Currently 06 technical training centers have been set up in 06 divisions of the country with the objective of rehabilitating the trainees in the society through employment and self-employment.

Aims and Objectives: 1. Transforming 15-25 years old orphans and disabled into skilled manpower by imparting training according to existing needs. 2. Providing vocational training on priority basis to orphans and disabled children who are lagging behind in education. 3. Ensuring social security of trainees. 4. To help the trainees achieve physical and mental excellence through cultural activities and sports.

5. To provide opportunities for the full development of trainee orphans and disabled in accordance with constitutional commitments, children's laws and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of the Child. 6. To create employment opportunities and provide capital for their skill and experience based income generating activities by providing interest free loans on easy terms and arranging rehabilitation through grants if necessary: ​​Emphasis on local resources for capital generation.

7. Alleviating poverty by mainstreaming orphans and disabled children into the mainstream of society by making them self-reliant by imparting up-to-date vocational technical training and making necessary arrangements for overseas employment based on merit.

Target Population: Orphans and disabled aged 15-25 years and non-resident orphans/destitute and disabled children aged 15-25 years of the catchment area living in various public and private institutions under the Department of Social Services. Training Course Details: Training will be arranged in the following trades as per the training module of the centre.

Admission Eligibility: 1. Every year trainees will be selected from among the educationally backward residents of government children families/institutions of different districts and nominated as resident residents at the center. Besides, non-resident indigent orphans/destitute children with requisite qualifications can apply for admission. 2. Age limit of trainee resident should be minimum 15 years and maximum 25 years.


3. Priority will be given to residents of Government Child Families and Disability Related Institutions managed by the Ministry of Social Welfare; 4. The minimum educational qualification of resident trainees should be 8th standard pass. Educational qualification may be relaxed if necessary;

5. Candidates desirous of admission should apply to the head of the concerned center through the prescribed admission form. Central authorities will publish admission notices in widely circulated daily newspapers, various government and private institutions, admission notices on local TV channels at scheduled times.


6. The concerned center head will finalize the trainee admission formalities through the admission committee;

7. Admitted trainees must abide by the rules and regulations of the center;


8. If anyone does anything against the rules and regulations, in that case, administrative measures and other disciplinary measures can be taken against him;

9. A personal document and case history should be maintained for each trainee

10. Disabled trainees must have disability registration. In case of orphans the local public representative (minimum UP Chairman) will certify as orphan/destitute.

 

 

Benefits for Residential Trainees: 1. Free hostel accommodation for the duration of the training. 2. Free treatment for trainees. 3. Sports and recreation facilities. 5. Reading facilities in the library. 6. The duration of placement of the trainees in the institution is 6 months per course (if necessary, the period can be extended by 6 months in the same course with the approval of the Center Management Committee). 7. Donation of new clothes on applicable festivals.

National Center for Training and Rehabilitation of Visually Impaired:

This center was started in 1978 within the ERCPH to make the visually challenged self-reliant through vocational training. With residential facilities

 

The institution provides various types of technical training to the visually impaired, the sanctioned number of seats is 50, the number of current residents is 8. So far the number of rehabilitated through this organization is 712. The following services are provided by this institution:

 

Providing accommodation, maintenance, medical services to the disabled;

Providing training on bamboo and cane work (6 months duration) and training on poultry rearing and movement (6 months duration);

provision of sports and recreation;

providing employment and rehabilitation;

 

Rehabilitation allowance at the rate of Tk 4000 after training;

Assistance in obtaining employment in various private and public institutions; And

Housing and rearing.

 

Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center for Physically Handicapped: In 1978, the center was started at Tongi in Gazipur district to provide various types of technical training to speech and hearing impaired and physically challenged youth. Successfully in this institution

A rehabilitation grant of Rs.4,000 is provided to each trainee for the purpose of rehabilitation after completion of training. The number of approved seats in this institution is 85, the number of current residents is 52. So far the number of resettled is 2884. The following services are provided by this institution:


Provision of accommodation, maintenance, medical services to persons with disabilities; Short term industrial training is provided to differently abled persons like Mechanical Workshop- 1 year duration (Seats No.-30), Woodworking- 1 year duration (Seats No.-10), Tailoring- 1 year duration (Seats No.-25) , Poultry training- 06 months duration (Seats-10) and Nursery Training- 06 months duration (Seats-10); provision of sports, recreation and rehabilitation;providing employment and rehabilitation;

Rehabilitation allowance at the rate of Tk 4000 after training;
Providing employment at the Center subject to vacancies; And
Assistance in obtaining employment in various private and government institutions.

 

Rural Rehabilitation Sub-Centre for Physically Handicapped: In 1978, an institution called Rural Rehabilitation Sub-centre for Physically Handicapped is being run at Fakirhat in Bagerhat district to impart various types of technical training to the hearing and physically challenged youth. A rehabilitation grant of Rs.4,000 is provided to each trainee for the purpose of rehabilitation after successful completion of training in this institution. A The number of sanctioned seats in the institution is 30, the number of current residents is 10 and the number of resettled people is 339 so far. The following services are provided by this institution:

 

Providing accommodation, maintenance, medical services to the disabled; Short term industrial training is provided to differently abled persons such as Mechanical Workshop- 1 year duration (Seats-10), Tailoring- 1 year duration (Seats-10), Poultry training- 1 year duration (Seats- 10). provision of sports, recreation and rehabilitation;Provision of employment and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities;Rehabilitation allowance at the rate of Tk 4000 after training;Provision of posts at the Center subject to vacancies; And Assistance in obtaining employment in various private and government institutions.
